1. Early access and free period

Tono is currently in early access. Here's exactly how it works:

Plain English: The early-access period is genuinely free, and we don't take a card to start. Founding members lock their founding rate for as long as they stay subscribed; the standard rate only applies to members who join later. The lock protects your price, it never commits you to stay, you can cancel anytime.

2. Paid subscription

Tono's plans (Quotes, Reviews, and Complete) are priced as shown on our website, with founding rates for early-access members locked for as long as they stay continuously subscribed. Billing is handled by Paddle, our payment provider, who acts as Merchant of Record. Paddle's name may appear on your bank statement or card receipt.

Automatic renewal. Paid plans are recurring subscriptions. At the end of each billing period your plan renews automatically at your applicable subscription price, and your payment method is charged, until you cancel. For founding members who remain continuously subscribed, that applicable price is your locked founding rate. By starting a paid subscription you authorize Paddle to charge your payment method on each renewal date. We email a reminder before your first charge, and we give at least 30 days notice before any price increase, which does not affect founding members while their locked founding subscription remains continuously active. You can cancel at any time before the next renewal (see Section 3), and cancellation stops all future charges.

Taxes. Prices are shown exclusive of tax where applicable. Paddle calculates and adds any VAT, GST, or sales tax due at checkout based on your location, and that amount is shown before you confirm payment.

Subscription payments are generally non-refundable once processed. This is consistent with standard practice for SaaS subscriptions where value is delivered continuously throughout the billing period.

That said, we're a small team and we try to be human about it. If you believe a charge was unfair, reach out and we'll review it.

3. Cancellation

You can cancel your Tono subscription at any time, no forms, no waiting, no questions required.

We do not offer prorated refunds for the remainder of a billing period after cancellation. If you cancel on day 5 of a billing cycle, you retain access through the end of that cycle but won't receive a partial refund for the unused days.

4. Requesting a refund

To request a refund, email us at support@tonovoice.com with:

We respond within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed by Paddle and typically appear on your statement within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank.

5. About Paddle (our billing provider)

Payments for Tono are processed by Paddle (paddle.com), who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. This means:

We partner with Paddle because it allows us to handle tax compliance globally, so we can focus on building the product instead of filing VAT returns in 40 countries.

6. Your data after cancellation

When you cancel, we don't delete your account immediately. Here's what happens:

To request immediate deletion of all your data, email privacy@tonovoice.com. We'll process your request within 30 days.

7. Your statutory rights

Tono is provided to businesses for business use. Nothing in this policy limits any consumer protection or other rights that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

Where a mandatory cooling-off or right-of-withdrawal period applies to your purchase (for example, certain consumers in the EU or UK), that right is honored, and any statutory refund is handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record. This policy describes our standard practice where the law leaves the terms to us; it does not reduce rights the law gives you.

Plain English: if the law where you are gives you a refund or cancellation right we haven't mentioned, you still have it. This page only sets the terms for everything the law leaves up to us.
