Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 24, 2026

Plain-English summary: Tono has two products for businesses, Quotes and Reviews, and two free tools that anyone can use without an account. Those two tools handle what you type differently, so the difference is stated rather than left to be assumed: the Job estimator runs in your browser and what you type into it stays on your device, while the try-it-free demo sends what you type to our server and on to Anthropic, because drafting a sample is not something a browser can do by itself. For businesses, we collect your business information, the reviews on your connected Google profile, and the details a customer enters when they request a quote, so we can draft replies and price quotes in your voice. We send you SMS alerts and, for quotes, send the quote to your customer on your behalf. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account and all data at any time. AI generation is powered by Anthropic, and the content needed to generate a draft is sent to their API.

1. Who we are

Tono ("Tono," "we," "our," or "us") is a software service that helps local businesses communicate with their customers using AI-generated drafts in the business's own voice. Tono offers two products: Tono Quotes, which drafts price quotes from the owner's own rates and delivers them to the customer after the owner approves, and Tono Reviews, which drafts replies to Google reviews for the owner to approve and post. Tono is operated by Adar Agmon, an independent software provider based in Israel, and serves business users in the United States. This Service is designed to comply with applicable United States laws and the requirements of the third-party platforms we integrate with.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information about users of our website at tonovoice.com and our related services (collectively, the "Service").

2. What information we collect

Information you provide directly

If you are a homeowner using the cost estimator

Most of this policy describes data we hold about the businesses that use Tono. The cost estimator at Job estimator is different, and this is the part that applies to you.

If you are trying the free demo

The demo at Try it free is a second free tool, and it does not work the way the Job estimator does. The estimator runs in your browser. The demo cannot: drafting a reply in a business voice, or pricing a sample job, happens on our server. So what you type there does leave your device, and this section says exactly where it goes.

Reviews data we collect automatically

Quote requests and customer (lead) data

Tono Quotes gives each business a hosted quote link. When someone requests a quote through your link, we collect the information that person provides so we can draft and deliver the quote on your behalf:

We collect this information only to structure the job, draft a price quote in your voice from your own rates, and deliver the quote to the customer. We retain it only as long as needed for that purpose, and it is subject to the same deletion practices described in the Data retention section below.

Our role with this data. For the review and quote data described above that belongs to your end customers and leads, the subscribing business is the controller of that information and Tono acts as a processor (service provider) handling it on the business's behalf, only to provide the Service. For the business owner's own account information (such as business details, contact information, and voice profile), Tono is the controller.

Information from connected platforms

When you connect your Google Business Profile, we access it through the Google Business Profile API using OAuth 2.0. We request read access to your reviews and to the business details you publish on your own listing, and write access solely for the purpose of posting approved replies. We do not access any other Google account data, and we never access your personal Google account, your email, your contacts or your files.

Filling in your business details. Once you have connected, you can ask us to read the details you already publish on your Google listing, your business name, address, phone number, website, opening hours and category, so you do not have to type them again. We show you exactly what we found and what would appear on the quotes your customers receive. Nothing is saved until you confirm it, and nothing is shown to a customer that you have not approved. If your listing is a service-area business, one that does not receive customers at an address, we do not offer your address for display unless you choose to add it yourself. Once you confirm these details they are stored as your own business information, which you can edit or remove at any time. We do not keep a separate copy of your Google listing and we do not re-read it in the background.

3. How we use your information

We do not use your review data, quote data, or voice profile to train AI models. Your data is used only to generate replies and quotes for your account. We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

4. Who we share data with

Before any of that, two things your browser does on its own. Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so opening any page on this site sends your IP address and browser details to Google, in the same way that loading any image from another site would. It carries nothing you typed and nothing about your account, and it happens whether or not you have a Tono account or are signed in.

The two pages where you set up payment also load the checkout software from Paddle, our payment provider, for the same reason and with the same effect: your IP address and browser details reach Paddle when one of those pages opens. Those are the only two companies any page on this site contacts, and nothing else on it is fetched from anywhere but us.

We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, and only as necessary to provide the Service:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

5. AI processing and third-party AI providers

Tono uses AI models provided by Anthropic to generate reply and quote drafts. When you generate a review reply, we send the following information to Anthropic's API:

When a quote is drafted, we send the job description and the property ZIP and type the customer entered, your business context, and your own rates, so the draft quote reflects your pricing in your voice.

Anthropic processes this data to generate a draft. This data is sent over encrypted connections. Anthropic's terms prohibit training their models on API inputs by default. Under Anthropic's standard API retention policy, API inputs and outputs are automatically deleted from Anthropic's backend within 30 days of receipt or generation, subject to Anthropic's published exceptions, including Usage Policy enforcement and legal requirements. We do not currently have a Zero Data Retention agreement with Anthropic, so the standard retention policy applies to the content described above. For more information, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

Important: You are responsible for ensuring that any review or quote content sent through our Service complies with applicable privacy laws. Content that contains sensitive personal information (medical details, financial data, etc.) should be handled with care.

6. SMS and phone communications

When you provide your mobile number during signup, you are opting in to receive automated SMS alerts from Tono. These alerts notify you when a new review arrives or a new quote request comes in, and include a link or one-tap action to view and approve the AI-generated draft.

Tono Quotes also sends SMS to the person who requested a quote, on your behalf as the business. That customer provides their mobile number on your quote form specifically to receive their quote, and we use it only to deliver the quote you approve, a confirmation if they accept, and directly related follow-up. STOP to opt out and HELP for help apply to these messages as well.

SMS opt-in disclosure: By providing your mobile phone number and continuing through setup, you consent to receive automated text messages from Tono regarding your customer reviews, quote requests, and AI-generated suggestions. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Reply HELP for help. See our SMS Terms for full details.

We honor all opt-out requests immediately. When you reply STOP, we will send one final confirmation and cease all SMS communications. We comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA messaging guidelines. We obtain express consent before sending any messages, and we use a number only to send messages related to that person's own account or requested quote.

7. Google Business Profile data

When you connect your Google Business Profile, we use the Google Business Profile API to:

Business details are a starting point, not a copy. We read your published listing details only when you ask, and only to fill in a form you then confirm. From the moment you confirm them they are your own business information, held and edited by you in Tono. We do not retain a Google-sourced copy of them, we do not re-read your listing in the background, and if you change something in Tono your version is the one we use. This is separate from review content, which is Google-sourced and deleted within 30 days as described below.

Your authorization. By connecting your Google Business Profile, you expressly authorize Tono to read your reviews and to post replies on your behalf, only after you have personally approved each one by text. Nothing is ever posted automatically. You can withdraw this authorization at any time by disconnecting your Google account from Settings, which immediately revokes our access.

We access only the minimum data necessary. We store your Google OAuth tokens (the access and refresh tokens) in encrypted form. You can disconnect your Google account at any time from your Settings page, which immediately revokes our access. Tono is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google LLC.

8. Data retention

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings, which takes effect immediately. You can also email support@tonovoice.com, and emailed requests are processed within 30 days.

9. Your rights (CCPA and state privacy laws)

If you are a resident of California or another US state with applicable privacy legislation, you may have the following rights:

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@tonovoice.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing requests.

Note on CCPA thresholds: The CCPA applies to a business that meets any one of three thresholds: annual gross revenue above $26,625,000; buying, selling or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more California consumers or households a year; or deriving 50 percent or more of annual revenue from selling or sharing personal information. As a small business, we may not currently be subject to CCPA, but we follow these standards as best practice.

10. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

No security system is perfect. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

11. Children

Tono is intended for use by business owners and operators aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately at support@tonovoice.com.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

Effective date: January 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 23, 2026

Plain-English summary: Use Tono's products (Quotes and Reviews) for your business. Don't misuse them. We generate draft replies and draft quotes; you review and approve everything, and you are responsible for what you post and the prices you send. We can cancel accounts that violate these terms. No annual contracts. Cancel anytime. If a payment fails we email you and your account keeps working for three days, pauses after three, and after seven days it goes on hold and the subscription is due to end. Your card may still be tried again in that time. A failed payment never deletes your work.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Tono (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Tono provides two products. Tono Reviews provides software tools that:

Tono Quotes provides software tools that:

AI-generated content: All reply drafts and quote drafts are generated by AI and are suggestions only. You review and approve every reply and every quote before it is posted or sent. Tono does not post or send anything without your explicit approval. You are solely responsible for the content of replies you choose to post and the quotes and prices you choose to send.

3. Accounts and eligibility

4. Payments, credits, and cancellation

Free plan

The free plan includes 3 AI generations in total, not per month. It is there so you can find out whether Tono writes like you. During early access the free cap does not apply and there is no charge: drafting is on the same fair-use basis as a paid plan, described below. After you have used your 3 free drafts, you will need to start a paid plan to continue.

Paid plans

Tono is currently in early access. We offer three plans: Quotes, Reviews, and Complete (which combines both). The current price of each plan, including founding rates, is shown on our website at tonovoice.com. Founding members who join during early access keep their founding rate for as long as their paid subscription stays active. We will not raise your price while you remain continuously subscribed. If you cancel and later start a new subscription, the then-current price applies. You can start without entering a credit card, and founding members receive a free early-access period before any charge begins. Once a paid subscription starts, it renews automatically each month unless cancelled. Each plan includes fair-use AI drafting for normal single-location business use.

Your Google Business Profile is free. Google provides your Business Profile at no cost. Tono's subscription is solely for our software, drafting replies in your voice, the SMS approval workflow, and posting on your approval. We never charge for the Google Business Profile itself, and we never take a percentage of your business.

If a payment fails

If a scheduled payment does not go through, we email you the same day at the address on your account, telling you what happened and giving you a link to update your payment method. Your account keeps working normally for three days from the failed payment.

If the payment is still outstanding after three days, your account is paused: the paid features stop, and everything you have created stays exactly where it is. Your voice profile, your rates, your history and your quote page are all preserved. You can still sign in. Updating your payment method restores your account automatically, with nothing else for you to do and nothing for us to do by hand.

If the payment is still outstanding seven days after it failed, your account goes on hold and your subscription is due to end. Your data is not deleted: it is retained under this agreement and our Privacy Policy, and updating your payment method restores your access with your existing voice profile and settings. If the subscription does end and you start a new one, the then-current price applies, as described above.

These periods run from the date the payment failed, not from the date we emailed you. Our payment provider may continue to attempt collection after the seven days, until it stops trying under its own retry schedule. A successful attempt at any point ends this process immediately and restores your account. This is why we describe the subscription at seven days as due to end rather than ended.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. After cancellation, your account moves to the Free plan and your data remains accessible while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time, which immediately erases your data from our live systems, with any residual backup copies purged within 30 days (except records we are legally required to keep).

Payment provider

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), which acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. Paddle handles payment processing, billing, and applicable tax collection on our behalf. Paddle's name may appear on your card statement. See our Refund Policy for full billing details.

Price changes

We will notify you at least 30 days in advance of any price changes. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

When using Tono Quotes, you also agree not to:

You, the business owner, are responsible for honoring the prices you approve and for your relationship and any transaction with the customer. Tono drafts and delivers the quote on your behalf and is not a party to that transaction.

Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate account termination without refund.

6. Intellectual property

The Tono platform, including its design, code, and systems, is owned by Tono and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of your business information, your rates, and the quotes and replies you create through the Service. Tono claims no ownership of any of it. Review content is different and we do not pretend otherwise: a review was written by your customer and is carried on a platform with its own terms, so what you may do with the text of a review is a matter between you, the person who wrote it, and that platform. Nothing here grants you rights in it. You grant Tono a limited license to process your data for the purpose of providing the Service, and for no other purpose.

AI-generated reply drafts and quote drafts are provided to you for your use. You are responsible for reviewing them before posting or sending.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. Tono does not guarantee the accuracy, quality, or appropriateness of AI-generated reply or quote content. You are solely responsible for reviewing all AI drafts before posting or sending. Quote drafts are estimates based on your own rates and the details provided; they are not a guarantee of price and you decide the final price.

Tono's liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

You acknowledge that posting or sending AI-generated content is your choice and your responsibility. Tono is not liable for any consequences resulting from replies you choose to post or quotes you choose to send, or from any transaction between you and your customer.

8. Google API compliance

Tono's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Our use of data obtained through Google APIs is limited to the functionality described in this agreement. We do not use Google user data for advertising or to build user profiles for purposes unrelated to the Service.

We do not transfer this Google user data to others, except as necessary to provide or improve the Service, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to you. We do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your affirmative consent to view specific data (for example, to help with a support request you make), it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, it is required to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymized so it cannot identify you.

Tono is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or cause harm to other users or the Service, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

10. Governing law and disputes

The Service is operated for users in the United States and is intended to be used in compliance with applicable United States federal and state laws, as well as the terms and policies of the third-party platforms we integrate with (including Google and our payment provider, Paddle).

To the extent permitted by applicable law, any disputes arising from your use of the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation by contacting us at legal@tonovoice.com. Where the parties cannot resolve a dispute informally, the dispute shall be resolved on an individual basis, and you agree not to bring or participate in any class action against Tono.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Tono is operated by Adar Agmon, an independent software provider based in Israel. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. We will notify you of any material change as described in Section 12 of our Privacy Policy.

SMS Terms & Conditions

Effective date: January 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 23, 2026

When you provide your number, here is what you agree to:

"By providing your mobile phone number and continuing, you agree to receive automated text messages from Tono about your customer reviews, quote requests, and AI-generated suggestions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for help. View SMS Terms at tonovoice.com/legal."

Program description

Tono operates two SMS programs.

Owner messages

Tono sends automated SMS text messages to business owners who have opted in to receive:

Customer quote messages

For Tono Quotes, Tono also sends SMS to the person who requested a quote, on behalf of the business. That customer provided their mobile number on the business's quote form specifically to receive a quote. These messages include:

Tono does not send promotional or marketing SMS messages. We send only transactional messages about a person's own account, reviews, or requested quote.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your review and quote activity. Businesses with high review or quote-request volumes may receive multiple messages per day. Customers receive messages only about the quote they requested. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages.

Supported carriers

Tono SMS is delivered through Twilio. Our US text line is still completing carrier registration, so texts to US numbers may not arrive yet. Carrier support may vary.

How to opt out

Reply STOP to any Tono text message to immediately unsubscribe. You will receive one confirmation message and no further SMS from Tono. You can also opt out at any time by emailing support@tonovoice.com.

We honor opt-out requests received through any reasonable channel within 10 business days, consistent with current FCC guidance. In practice, STOP commands are honored immediately.

How to get help

Reply HELP to any Tono text message to receive support contact information. You can also email support@tonovoice.com.

Cost

Tono does not charge for SMS alerts or quote messages, SMS is included in your plan. However, your mobile carrier's standard message and data rates may apply.

Privacy

An owner's mobile phone number is used only to send review and quote alerts and service notifications. A customer's mobile number, provided on a business's quote form, is used only to deliver the quote they requested and directly related follow-up. We do not share any phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details on SMS data handling.

SMS is part of how the Service works

Tono delivers your review and quote alerts and one-tap approvals by text message, so a mobile number is part of using the Service. For Tono Quotes, the customer who requests a quote also provides their number to receive the quote by text. We send only transactional messages about a person's own account, reviews, or requested quote, never marketing or promotional texts, and we never make consent to marketing messages a condition of any purchase. You can reply STOP at any time to stop texts; because alerts are delivered by SMS, opting out also stops the alerts the Service depends on. To stop the Service entirely, cancel from your account settings.

TCPA compliance

Tono complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA messaging principles. We collect express consent before sending any messages: from each owner during signup, and from each customer at the quote intake form before any quote text is sent. We do not share consent records or phone numbers with marketing partners, and we send only transactional messages related to a person's own account, reviews, or requested quote.

Job Estimator Notice and Disclosures

Effective date: August 23, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 24, 2026

For people using the Job Estimator. If you run a business and have a Tono account, the Terms of Service apply to you. Operated by Adar Agmon, sole proprietor, trading as Tono.

The Job Estimator is designed for use in the United States. Its prices come from US sources, it uses US ZIP codes, and its licensing, permitting and emergency guidance assumes US rules and services. If you are outside the United States, do not rely on its prices or emergency information; use local pricing sources, licensing authorities and emergency numbers instead.

1. What the Job Estimator is

The Job Estimator is a free research tool for homeowners. You describe a job, or paste a quote you have been given, and it gives you:

It is information to help you have a better conversation with a contractor. Nothing more than that.

2. What it is not

It is not a quote. It is not an estimate for your job. It is not an offer, and nobody is bound by anything it shows you. It is not professional, legal, financial or trade advice.

We have never seen your home, your job, or the person who will do the work. Only a contractor who evaluates your specific job can tell you what it will cost.

3. Where the price information comes from, and what it means

These are prices or ranges that named businesses published on their own public pages. A published figure may be a menu price, a starting price, or an informational price guide. It does not prove what the business currently charges, and it does not show what any customer ultimately paid.

We show, beside each figure, how many businesses it comes from, who they are, and where they operate. A figure published by one business in one city is a different thing from the same figure published by five businesses in five places, and you should be able to see which one you are looking at.

What we do not claim. We do not claim these figures are typical, average, or the going rate, and we do not claim they represent prices in your area. Some figures may be based on only one business, and the number of sources is shown beside each figure. Where a business published a figure as a starting price, we show it as a starting price and do not invent an upper limit.

Dates. Many businesses do not say when they last changed a published price. Where we do not know, we do not guess, and we do not present the date we read a page as the date the price was set.

4. Reading a quote you paste

If you paste a quote, the reading happens in your browser. The text is not sent to us, we do not receive it, and we do not store it.

The reader is deliberately cautious and it is limited. It looks for a small number of specific things a quote may mention, such as whether a permit is included or whether taking the old unit away is in the price. The reader may miss information your quote states, and it may misread information, including amounts. Check its output against the original quote.

It is a prompt, not a review, and it is not a substitute for reading your quote. The list of questions is the useful part, and those questions are worth asking whether or not the reader found anything.

5. We are not a contractor, and we do not recommend one

Tono is a software company. We do not perform, supervise, inspect, arrange or subcontract any work of any kind.

We do not check any contractor's license, insurance, registration, qualifications, reviews or work. Naming a business on this site is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a statement that they are suitable, available, or any good.

If you hire someone, that is a contract between you and them. We are not a party to it. Checking that they are licensed and insured for the work, in your state, is your responsibility, and most states publish a way to do it.

6. If it is an emergency, stop using this tool

If you smell gas, if you see or smell smoke or fire, if there is sparking or a burning smell, or if anyone has been shocked:

Water that you cannot stop is urgent, and it is usually not a 911 call:

Do not use this tool to decide whether an emergency is worth the money. It is not built for that and it will not help you.

7. What we do not promise

We try to be accurate and we correct mistakes when we find them. Beyond that, we do not promise that anything on the Job Estimator is complete, current, or right for your situation, and we do not promise it will be available or working at any particular time.

Do not rely on it as the only basis for a decision about money or safety. Use it to ask better questions.

Nothing in this notice takes away any right you have under consumer law that cannot be taken away, and nothing in it limits any remedy the law gives you.

8. Your side of it

Use the tool for your own genuine research. Do not scrape it, resell it, or pass it off as your own. Do not paste anything you are not allowed to share.

9. Privacy

The Privacy Policy is the full statement. The parts specific to the Job Estimator:

A quote you paste is read in your browser. It is not sent to us and we do not store it.

If you ask to be told when we have a price for a job, we store your email address, the job you asked about, the trade it falls under, and the date you asked. If you give a ZIP code it is counted towards how many people want that job priced in that area, and it is not stored next to your email address.

We delete that record 30 days after we send you the message, or after 12 months if we never send one.

Our email provider and our hosting provider process that information on our behalf and for no other purpose. We do not use your address for marketing, and we do not sell it.

We do not pass your details to any contractor. If we ever offer to put you in touch with a business, we will ask you at that point, in plain words, and it will be your choice.

Children. The Job Estimator is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us an address, write to legal@tonovoice.com and we will delete it.

10. Changes, and when we get something wrong

We change this tool often. When we change what it does in a way that affects what this notice says, we update this notice and the date at the top of it.

If you find a figure or a statement here that is wrong, tell us at legal@tonovoice.com and we will look at it. If we are wrong, we will correct it.

11. Getting in touch

legal@tonovoice.com. We read everything and we reply to complaints.

12. Your rights

Nothing in this notice asks you to give up a right, agree to a forum, or waive a claim. You are not asked to sign anything and you do not have an account with us. This is a statement of how we run the Job Estimator and what we do and do not promise, and any rights you have under the consumer law of the state where you live are unaffected by it.

Where this notice and the Terms of Service differ, this notice describes the Job Estimator, and the Terms of Service govern a business account.
